This is the return leg of my trip to Israel, the onward journey can be found here @ http://www.airliners.net/discussions/trip_reports/read.main/95687/

The initial itinerary was via DEL , however i had to extend my stay by a day in Israel and hence was not able to get a conformed reservation on the VIE DEL sector. So I was booked on the VIE - BOM flight (ironic considering that on my onward leg, I had to undergo the torture that is DEL airport coz the flight from BOM was full!! )

My itnierary

5 OS 860 H 08FEB 3*TLVVIE HK1 0655 0940
6 OS 035 H 08FEB 3*VIEBOM HK1 1045 2230
7 9W 2411 H 080FEB 4 BOMBLR HK1 0300 0515

Load was 100% on the first and last sector in Y and abt 70% from VIE to BOM.

Checked in more than 3 hrs prior to departure time @ TLV . Strangely OS LH and Lot hv their check in counters at Level -2 , which means u enter the terminal take a lift down two floors, check in, take the lift up two floors and then proceed!! Security was as usual strict...and the questions the very same!!

Cleared security and passport control and had loads of time.Inquired with security and found that i cud take pics of the terminal beyond passport control. So here are sm pics of the Ben Gurion Airport...

The downward ramp leading from Passport control

Departures from TLV .. mostly to the East Coast n Europe..

The central cafeteria.. there is this "water fall" tht falls in from the ceiling here, but was not turned on this early.

TLV Dutyfree .. unfortunately they dont follow the new EU regulations w.r.t Duty free items in Cabin baggage and hence not a good idea to buy liquids and cosmetics frm here if u transitting via EU

Just b4 push off.. a beautiful sunrise over TLV

Amazing view as we fly over Turkey.. never knew abt this part of turkey being so beautiful!! Will hv to go there smday

Breakfast onboard - Scrambled Eggs n veggies bread, cheese, fruits and falvoured yoghurt. Hv noticed that on the VIE TLV VIE sector, there are usually no choices for general meals. Neways majority of the pax opt for special meal!!

Descending into VIE

Touch down

Taxi-ing to our stand in Terminal A, while a LH 319 is heading for smwhr in Germany!!

De-planing

Due to my last minute re-scheduling, the check in agent at TLV was not able to issue me a boarding pass for thr VIE - BOM sector. So i had to collect tht from the transfer service desk at VIE. I had a gap of just abt an hr , within which I needed to go thru duty free and then take a bus to Terminal C from where my flight was departing... it was a mad dash.. and I was the last person to board the flight!!

OE-LAE (Malaysia) as seen frm the inter-terminal bus

Security Check at Terminal C

Lunch onboard - Chicken n Eggs, bread, salad and brownies. OS serves the best bread basket tht I hv seen!! But their lunch on the VIE -India route is not as good as the dinner served on the return leg!!

My favourite actress -Vidya Balan - in Lage Raho Munnabhai (Hindi movie) .. on the OS IFE (not AVOD though!!)

Snacks b4 landing in BOM - Cheese n Tomatoes with Greens . The other option was Indian lentils, which my co-pax commented was "absolutely disgusting". Mine was good!!

Deboarding at BOM

We landed in BOM well b4 time and immigration and customs were both pretty fast. I got myself checked in for my 9W flight to BLR at 9W 's check in counter avlbl at the International Arrival section itself. This is a pretty good facility. Sadly not avlbl in the DEL airport.

Had a fren who picked me up at BOM airport and I spent abt 3 hrs roaming around Mumbai city in the middle of the nite. The Reclamation area looks awesome now.. it has a gr8 skyline visible .. hope the higher ups in Mumbai develop it fine!!

Came back to the domestic terminal at around 0215 and headed str8 for security. Terminal 1B of BOM is simply India's best airport terminal to date!! Its an amazing structure. Hope they add some jetways to the terminal.

Boarding announced for the BLR flight

Some Tarmac shots.. real bad quality though.. apologize for tht

Breakfast - Looks good and tastes good .. IT must really take a leaf frm 9W on this count

The breakfast gobbled up, I was promptly asleep for the rest of the flight. Landed at 0525 hrs into a deserted BLR airport , our only other companion was a BA widebody. I am pretty impresses with OS and would recommend it to most folks out of India to Europe and even YYZ and JFK. But please avoid doing tht via DEL. That airport is a nightmare!!

Recently undertook my first trip onboard a DN flight. Will post the TR soon!!
