Its now much better but i still dont get the logic of leaving the engines white. may be they could have continued with the sky blue color or applied the dark nay blue with the Jet logo on it.

Yeah, blue on the engine cowlings with the logo or some other image in gold/yellow would have set it off nicely.

Why do airlines always change their liveries when they are buying new acfts?Coz the current liveries of AI and 9W will look good on their new acfts.

whats wierd is that they just took delivery of a new 737 which is in its old colour scheme... i strongly feel its a special livery... but then again, they have publicly said they are going with a new look, so who knows?

I so hope this isnt the new 9W livery.. The current one is such a classic and i hate to see 9W go towards the EuroWhite direction..

It's not special. They probably want to introduce the new livery and product on their flagship aircraft and don't want to put it on the 737 just yet as it will be going into service before the 777.

XB, this is nowhere near eurowhite. It has a cheatline and an alternate belly color.

Yes it is definetly looking better. Although I wonder if they will paint the engines blue --that would be a nice touch

http://www.ibnlive.com/videos/37059/image-overhaul-for-jet-airways.html

A video on the rebranding by CNN-IBN. Are they using the same Matt Cawby pictures in their first scenes?

Anyway - this puts an end to 9W's silly plans to prevent this livery from being publicly visible.

Thanks for sharing Nimish. Come to think of it, looks a bit better now. Seriously did 9W management think they could keep this under wraps in this day and age??

It's not impossible to keep under wraps. It seems Jet wasn't that concerned with hiding it. Remember just a few years ago Delta kept their new identity secret until, I believe, the last minute. It's just a matter of taking a green plane to another facility for painting and keeping it in the hangar.

IC managed to keep it's new identity a secret. The A319s were flown to DEL in white color and painted by IC Mx.

I am quite sure, if they had been painted at Airbus, somebody would surely have photographed them there. The only pics of these a/c at Hamburg show them in plain white color.

Oh yes - they are concerned. There was a news article I read today where it talks about how 9W goes to great lengths to hide the new identity including signing NDAs with all the parties involved. In addition 9W went to the extent of actually asking Airliners.net to delete the thread on the new identity (which airliners.net actually went ahead and deleted!).

So they're being paranoid. But evidently they did not learn from the mistakes made by AI, and went ahead and repeated the same mistake within 2 months.

It was the A319s that heralded the new identity and look of Indian Airlines.
All the A319s were painted with the new logo at Hamburg and then flown to India.

Only the A320s were/are being repainted at Delhi.

Indian Airlines Launches New Identity
December 7, 2005, marks the beginning of a new epoch in Indian Airlines. The Airbus A319 aircraft which landed at Delhi Airport today from Hamburg launched the new Indian Airlines name and identity. After ruling the skies for more than 50 years and with many significant improvements in the last decade, Indian Airlines is gearing itself for tougher challenges. The A319 aircraft taken on lease is the first new type of aircraft to join the fleet after a long gap of 11 years. Four more will join shortly. The fleet acquisition plan for 43 aircraft is also underway and the airline hopes to take delivery of the new aircraft beginning next year end.

Signifying continuity with change, the new look of the airline communicates a bold, striking, progressive and distinctive image for the airline. It is a contemporary graphic representation inspired by the wheel of the Sun Temple at Konark, which symbolizes timeless motion, convergence and divergence. It also embodies the solidity and trust that has stood the test of time.

Maintaining the continuity and strengthening the brand is the familiar orange colour, but along with a dash of blue that is vibrant and has a natural affiliation with the sky and aviation. The big and bold font connotes the inherent strengths and the solid base of the airline, of its vast network, technology and infrastructure.

The rebranding, the arrival of new aircraft on lease, the acquisition of 43 aircraft, the proposed IPO - all signal a resurgent airline with a renewed sense of dynamism and energy.

Courtesy: Indian Airlines Ltd.

But with this "Air Indian" rubbish and the planned new LCC, wonder whats' going to happen.

Did they delete that thread? That is stupid. Why would A.net do that I mean they are by law not forced to are they?

Seeing as the Indian Media decided to show 9W new image there's no reason Anet should delete any reference to it..

I suggest someone repost that thread since its now in the public domain..

A.net is stupid and paranoid with such things, it does't surprise me. If the aircraft can be seen from a public location then it's free for all. If Jet was so concerned with hiding it they could have had it flown elsewhere to be painted but they didn't. Plenty of their own 737s have been photographed previously so they should have known, especially if they peruse a.net.

I guess it came directly painted because i can remember seeing a picture of the first A319 landing at DEL ... there was a picture in the media release with full c/s .. at that time i saved the picture to my harddisk... and uploaded it...
can someone please verfiy... im sure it came painted... and if i can remember it was done at Lufthansa Technik...

I have to admit - I now feel this is a huge improvement over the earlier colors - this gives a sense of "dynamism" to the whole image. Definitely prefer this to the old colours.

This certailnly looks better than previous livery. After viewing the aircraft from various angles, i feel that this is a nice livery in comparison with the plain strip of navy blue which the current planes sport.

Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Even a thousand of these sad & angry emoticons won't be sufficient to convey my disappointment. Jet Airways new livery (and I hope they reconsider) suffers from the follg -

1. The nice dark blue color has now become closer to black (ugh)

2. The yellow & ochre ribbon on the front fuselage ends abruptly and magically transforms into black.......more like a gangrenous infection which spreads to the rear of the aircraft (ugh ugh)

3. Engines are standard light grey (ugh x 3) why couldn't they have painted them blue (or even the horrendous black) and put in a small logo ?

4. Neither does it convey the "spirit of a new India" nor does it delight anyone. It's not fresh, it isn't innovative, it is just plain ugly.

An unfortunate and disappointing beginning to their new International fleet. Mr Goyal and the marketing guys @ Jet, you were always known to be in the forefront. What's happened this time ??

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it in previous posts,I think this new Jet airways livery looks more like the livery of UPS cargo systems, mainly their tailfins.

You seem to be some sort of expert, how would you have done it better? Seems you need to relax, have a drink, get laid. You are getting way to upset about this.

The livery looks fine. There is no "abrupt" end, the "ribbon" twists and is a different color on the other side. Tell me, what other airline has used a similar ribbon design?
