Travelocity has launched its Indian online travel agency web site: www.travelocity.co.in and introduced its India teams, based in Delhi and Bombay.
The new Travelocity India website offers Indian travellers choice of 72,000 hotels, 1,000 cruises and over 4,000 popular sights, tours and activities along with destination guides and other travel tools.
Visiting India to celebrate the launch, president Travelocity Asia Pacific and ZUJI chief executive officer, Scott Blume, said, “Our team is in place, our site is ready, and we are poised to revolutionise the way hotels are booked in India.”
Indian hoteliers have relished the chance to distribute hotel rooms online on Travelocity India, as well as via ZUJI sites across Asia Pacific, lastminute.com sites in Europe and Travelocity.com in North America.

How practical are these sites (for hotel bookings) given the low penetration of IT/connectivity to the lower rung hotels across the country? The standard hotels I stay at while on personal travel are not listed on this site. The only hotels it throws up are the standard 3*-5* type hotels, hardly the right price range for a domestic tourist.
Or are they only targetting corporate travellers? In which case most corporates already have a rate tie up with different hotels in each city, and they'd go directly to get their designated rates. |

It's good that they are making a start. Hopefully with time we will see 2 & 3* hotels in their fortfolio. It would be even better if www.priceline.com were to enter the market too. _________________ [url=http://openflights.org/user/aseemsjohri]
