|
|
With the increasing number of flights to the UK by 9W and considerable traffic to BKK/KUL/SIN can they funnel the Europe south east asia traffic through India ?
Can 9W start banking on 6th freedom rights ? Of they are already doing it good for them
In winters a huge amount of traffic travels between LON and BKK so can 9W be a competitor to them
And also if some transit visa is granted it can aso boost the indian tourism
currently
LHR - DEL - BKK is possible
LHR - BOM/DEL - SIN is possible
Would liketo know what all you guys think |

They'll have to start doing that if they want to beat places like DXB or SIN in their own game. Please somebody enlighten on the regulation side of it.

In essence, an “Open Skies”-type agreement would cover the following elements for scheduled passenger and all-cargo services:
Open bilateral markets/access (third and fourth freedom rights);
No limit on the number of airlines permitted to operate;
No limits on the permitted frequency of service or aircraft type;
Market-based tariff/pricing regime for bilateral and third-country services;
Open and flexible regime for the operation of code-sharing services;
Unrestricted services to and from third-countries (fifth and sixth freedom rights); and
Rights for stand-alone all-cargo operations (seventh freedom rights). |

For UK citizens transiting through India:
Code: |
Visa not required provided holding:
- confirmed onward ticket for next destination on first available flight and not leaving the airport transit area;
OR
- a PIO (Person of Indian Origin) card.
Non-compliance with transit regulations result in deportation to point of origin on same or first available flight.
|
So transit/6th freedom through Indian airports is definitely practical and legal. Now it's a matter of someone like 9W putting together the schedules in a manner that transit time is minimal. |

Transit Visa was never required. Infact i remember clearly that as u disembark thru the boarding gate at IGIA There are two clear sign board one pointing you to take the steps downstairs for customs and other jst guiding you to the transit area...
Though i am sure transiting thru indian airports wether dom-intl or intl-intl is pain in the ass _________________ Expeditors- You'd be surprised how far we will go for you www.expeditors.com |

Actually intl-intl is not too bad, esp in BOM/DEL/MAA etc. It's the same terminal and there's some room to breathe and some refreshments/lounge facilities. It's another matter at our small shack at BLR - that would be a disaster zone for intl transit.
dom-intl-dom is another matter altogether |

Not bad at all. Can you post the flight schedule that 9W threw up for LHR-BKK? |

Not bad at all. Can you post the flight schedule that 9W threw up for LHR-BKK? |
9W 117 LHR - BOM 2125 1050 A340 - 300
9W 305 BOM - DEL 1450 1645 B737 - 800
9W 064 DEL - BKK 0105 0655 B737 - 800
9W 063 BKK - DEL 1825 2130 B737 - 800
9W 308 DEL - BOM 0730 0925 B737 - 800
9W 118 BOM - LHR 1245 1755 A340 - 300
And all the tickets are sold out for april
buti think connections to BKK arent that good
OTOH LHR - SIN through india can work
9W 117 LHR - BOM 2125 1050 A340-300
9W 012 BOM - SIN 2315 0715 B737-800
9W 011 SIN - BOM 1910 2150 B737-800
9W 120 BOM - LHR 0125 0645 A340-300 |
