At the Berlin tourism festival, Lufthansa has announced a new route from India : Munich.

See link : http://www.financialexpress.com/fe_full_story.php?content_id=157391

I hope the flight timings will be as convenient as the DEL-MUC flights where one can spend the working day there, fly in the evening, and be back to work in India next day !!

Is it possible that Lufthansa may lure India connecting passengers for EUR/UK via the MUC hub, just to free up more seats for the FRA-US connections.
Although I am not sure how popular this would be if 9W or IT start some of their own direct flights. But it will be interesting how much these flights actually fill up. Maybe an A332 or 343 will be more than sufficient.

Actually this flight has not come as a big surprise and if one follows the LH expansion and MUC news threads on airliners from around Oct Nov 2006 time, according to most of the Germans the flight was a Given from MUC in 2007, for its expansion

I'm confused about 9W's partnerships. Out there I read that 9W was more aligned with *A airlines. Some of my folks who are traveling from AMD onward to US, 9W is accommodating them on AA ( I know that about couple of months back a friend of mine got connection on UA to LHR for 9W's flt to BOM, 9W tkt). And over all they still have strong relationships with NW/KLM. I think that's the only one where one can do a "through checkin" from secondary airports like AMD.

My dear 380, what's so surprising about that? LH and flying returns have been co-existing for hte past 2-3 years now with it being possible to earn/redeem flying return miles on LH for that duration. Nothing new about this.

What's not been in place is the ability to earn LH M&M miles when flying IC. I don't know if that has changed yet, but hopefully will once the merger becomes real.
