Air Pacific (Fiji) plans to fly direct to India, South America and beyond the US West Coast from 2011, according to its chief executive officer John Campbell. This info has been released to Air India.

The airline has a 747-400 and the plan now is to use it to boost tourism to Fiji. This could mean points to SE Asia and NE Asia/China.
Air Pacific is also a customer for the 787 and this will be delivered only in 2011.

The B747-400 Air Pacific has is about 452 seats.
Air Pacific currently has special fare arrangements with China Eastern and China Southern Airlines touching Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou; with Air India serving four points and with Singapore Airlines, again covering five points in India.

Mr Campbell has said further developments could mean a larger codeshare with Air India.

Air Pacific operates 112 flights per week servicing 17 destinations in 11 countries. Of the 112 flights, 34 are to Australia and New Zealand. Destinations being serviced by Air Pacific are: Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Auckland, Christchurch, Port Vila, Honiara, Apia, Tonga, Tarawa, Christmas Island, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Tokyo, Nadi and Suva.

Air Pacific's annual revenue is in excess of $500million with more than half of the total revenue being earned from Australia and New Zealand routes.

Air India has been flying off and on to Fiji. Its last service was an extension from Perth. There was a regular B707 service. The A310-300 was used for just a month before the service was withdrawn.

Since Qantas owns shares in Air Pacific i am assuming the flight could start of from Fiji to somewhere in Australia and then directly to India maybe...else how will they manage to fill up so much on a direct flight? Rolling Eyes
