Who would imagine that a "legacy" carrier like DL would operate the longest non-stop from India!!

Of course all these statistics will soon be meaningless, when AI gets hold of it's 772LRs!

why do u say that...were u surprised SQ announced SQ21/SQ22...they are also legacy carrier...and soon DL will be getting LRs as well...u really think the US govt is going to let AI fly direct from India...look what happened to PIA...and pakistan helped US in the "WAR ON TERRORISM"...they wasted their LRs...the only time i will be delighted for AI is when the route lasts at least 6 months.. Neutral

Yes the US govt will allow Air India to fly directly to the USA because both the countries have opened up the skies for each other

I say that because the American legacies are not known for innovative products, while SQ is. For instance DL has been operating to India for a very long time, and has had the 772s for a very long time, but they only just decided to launch the non-stop, hence the surprise.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, in fact this reflects very positively on DL.

Technically though, im pretty sure the original term 'legacy' carriers referred to the 5 us carriers. Nowadays, the press seems to use it for all 'major' carriers.

Besides, Pakistan and India and not comparable in this regard. If DL, AA and CO already fly non stop, why in the world would American bar AI from doing the same Very Happy
