Came in via 10 yesterday at DEL and was pleasantly surprised to see VT-IOB, the second jet for Indus Air parked in Bay 54. Since it was lights out, i guess it still needs to get its checks done and airworthiness certi issued.

Any idea what are the new sectors they're going to operate on? I understand from an ex-colleague that these a/c are ex-Independence Air (that went bankrupt earlier last year), and Sahara is providing pilots and crew to operate these aircrafts.

Can Sahara Afford that?? ... since there's so much shortage of pilots and crew and more so that Sahara has not yet fully recovered from it's failed merger with Jet.

Cheers

S2 pays its pilots real well due to which quite of them hav actually resisted joining international airlines. Secondly the airline seems to have recuperated from the shock after the fallout from merger.

Returning of the 767 back to its lessors was one of the steps involved in the cost control and better asset utilization. Sorrie due to public nature of the forum cant post much info bt Dec and Jan have been the months where the airline actually raked in good amount of cash , full sellout of inventory on certain days offcourse then competetion did well too on those days. ...

Well the current arrangement with Indus is a win win situation as they get compensated for providing tech support and crew for the crj,s... No charity is being done here....

Trust me mate things are really improving on their end..

Exactly. And what a corny tag line - "The Origin of India" - seems to have nothing to do with aviation or travel or experience!

Mel i think they are referring to the Indus valley civilization... which is kind of the origin of india... hence the airline name.

Nitin or Deaphen is right.

The name has links to the Indus Valley Civilisation.

Visit Indus Air website and check the history section and you shall feel, India originating Laughing

Indus Airways will add eight more aircraft, including five Boeing jets, to its fleet within a year for expanding operations to all metros, says NDTV Profit TV.
The airline, which launched its second new service on the Delhi-Amritsar-Mumbai route today, will also invest over Rs 100 crore to consolidate its position in the market.
Two CRJ 900s, one CRJ 200 and five Boeings will be added to the fleet within a year with the CRJs coming in within six months, according to its Director (Finance) A K Khattar on the inaugural flight from Delhi to Amritsar on March 12.
He said the airline, which was launched in December 2004, will connect all the metros with cities in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir by end of this year.
Khattar said many overseas investors, including a Canadian company, have offered to invest in the airline, but nothing has been finalized.
Asked whether the airline was open to merger and acquisitions, he said the company will not consider any such proposal in the near future.
The Delhi-Amritsar-Mumbai flight will operate daily on the route from March 17. At present, Indus operates daily flights to Mumbai via Chandigarh.
Khattar said the airline will offer fares that are likely to attract both the upper and lower end customers.
He also welcomed the proposed merger of Indian and Air India, saying it will result in better infrastructure for the aviation sector in the country.

More CRJs, to Indus well i guess this means more money to S2 for pilots and tech support. Maybe Indus can do the same for Boeings...
