I think the wheels have a "fender" over them.

If I'm not mistaken, those type of pushback tractors are called TBLs...TowBarLess.

You sure did sameer,But I was asked the question so needed to revert.
Wink

To add,the TBL pushback is easier than with a towbar as turn is initiated in the same direction,The drawback is if brakes on the aircraft are applied during a push, the damage can be serious unlike on a tow bar type where only the shear bolts of the towbar give wear.

I prefer the Towbar type.

To push you back from the computer? Very Happy
And prevent you from giving us gems of information? No...no!!
No - the sheer force needed - we would not be able to muster.
The damage to the forum will be severe, as our thirst for knowledge
would wear us out. Come what may, we prefer the Meljoe type of replies.

Tell me about it. Happened to me in Nov. Pushback was commenced with parking brake set despite telling the chap to wait. Result : one broken towbar and one mad capt [not me] Had it been the TBL, we would have been in his lap....one heavy laptop at that Wink

Pushing back with a tow bar is more fun...coz of the risk of damaging the nose wheel and the bar by exceeding 70 degree or more from the straight...i used to love to pushback....especially a Z pushback.

Almost every modern commercial airliner has a restriction on the angle of push to avoid damage to the Taxi cable or Torsion link.

First time I saw TBLs was at ZRH, which would explain their use at BIA.

Lovely pics Nikhil - thanks for posting! The Frontier ERJ was certainly mysterious - some kind of sales call perhaps? That Avanti private jet was recently featured in a nice TR on A.net - seems like quite an innovative prop.

Prized catch nonetheless, the frontier ERJ !

We BOM spotters saw a DL CRJ 900 or CRJ 1000 basking in the evening sun. Later got to know it was going to be parked at HYD Airshow 2008 for Bombardier.

Nice shots of Aerologic Trips, and the rare closeup of Piaggio Avanti! You should shoot a lot more Nikhil Smile

DL CRJ 900 - Delta does not operate the CRJ 1000 (only Brit Air and Air Nostrum do). Besides, the CRJ 1000 entered service only in December 2010.
