Due to attractive and competitve market in India, Airbus was ready to bring the A380 'whalejet' to Aero India 2007.
However the Yelahanka could not handle the A380 so I did not come.
Also possibly could have been a part of the A380 publicity drive.
Information provided by the most reliable source ever.
would have been cool to see whale jet in india.

Welcome to A.net!
It would have been great to see the 380 at the show in BLR, though I'm secretly glad it did not come right now, since I wasn't in BLR anyway to see it! |

Airbus is desperate to bring the A380 to India to impress airlines like AI, IC, 9W and IT ( to increase their orders)
However conditions at indian airports is such that they cannot bring the aircraft to india ... however Airbus is willing to bring the A380 to India somewhere around 2007 end 2008 _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld

AI will not even think of glancing towards the 380 as its too big for them and Praful Patel has said that AI will not buy them.
IC is the same case and with the merger i doubt will happen.
9W has devoted their high capacity aircraft to Boeing so there is no possibitly there althought the 330 will be used as it is perfect for Aisa and some European sectors.
IT is the only possibitly for Airbus who wouldn't mind IT ordering more whalejets.
Speaking about airports: Last year I was in Germany for the world cup and took LH for MUC to TXL. Inflight magazine had a 380 article. I had a list of about 20-30 airports which could take the bird. BOM and DEL were one of them.

Well then the CIAL has also technically speaking not done something for the A380 besides just creating a special remote parking bay which can handle the bird along with maybe expansion of taxi tracks. Unlike SYD or SIN who have done special civil work in the terminal area to accomodate double boarding gates for the big bird..
R u sure MEL there are no A380 compliant remote parking bays in BOM & DEL _________________ Expeditors- You'd be surprised how far we will go for you www.expeditors.com |

I Repeat BOM and DEL both are capable of handling the A380 - Fact confirmed by Praful Patel

Unless he wantd to use the Western Express Highway in addition to the existing taxiways. There's no way the A380 can come to BOM. It can however land with difficulty but not get out the runway as the taxi tracks are too narrow for the A380. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld

Land with difficulty?????? If the 77W and 744 can land at BOM, the a380 most certainly can. It’s obviously long enough and it's wide enough- it may not be the ICAO 'recommended' width, but it's still possible.
I was under the impression that if the taxiways were wide enough to handle the a346, it could handle the a380.
The big question is where would you park it? You would need a new bay to handle it (please, not a remote bay for the 380 ) _________________ eP007 |
