My usual drill is that while walking into the aircraft i hand over my flight log to the cabin crew to give to the flight deck (to give them some time to read it and possibly invite me in!). So after doing this, i sat on my nice window seat and after boarding had finished and before doors were closed, the FA came up to me and asked if i could follow him. So i did, and just outside the cockpit, the Captain was there and introduced himself and told me that he is also a photographer (not aviation though) and that if i wanted to, i could fly upfront with them. By this time i was falling over backwards with joy! So sure enough i was there 1 min later sitting on the jumpseat. I really couldnt beleive it. Jumpseating in the EU is a big no no and i managed, so im grateful to the crew.
