They have an aviation engineering related degree (diploma, i think). They might be using it for the practical work.

When I had peeked behind there a few years back, they had quite a few aircraft parts, including a wing section spread around.

The also have a Cessna, VT-EUD on display in the front, although I think that i purely a display item and not for practical training.

Yup they have started AME course recently hence have dought all these aircrafts. The wing, nose l/g which they have also belong to Narsinha Varman. Apart from that they have recently bought a Hiller chopper from Mesco airlines which was lying unused.

So they have parts of the former 'Narsimha Varman' as well ?

Any idea of the reasoning behind the 'KLM' colors ?

Thakur Polytechnic offers diploma in aviation engg... its B.Sc in Aviation engg.
Both aircrafts are for static training only.
Btw i'm also in Thakur's education company only, but polytechnic and college have different campuses.

On a slightly (un) related note, any idea which are the 2 AI 742s in these pics ?

This one's name seems to have 2 words, so I'm guessing that it's one of the last three 742 broken up at BOM - "Samundra Gupta", "Mahendra Varman", or "Harsha Vardhan".

This one seems to have a one-word name, but that might have been painted over (?)

Perhaps Mel can help in identifying these birds, based on their position near the hangars. I guess this was back in late 2006 / early 2007.

A few more pics of VT-EGC

Don't miss the "Titles" & Logo, as well as "747-200" emblazoned on the fuselage:

Good to see the AI Maharaja is still on the door :

Check out the entrance now with the swanky Boeing logo:

The interiors:

The Upper Deck :

Boy, the flight deck still looks the same as the last time I was there, with my Dad operating LHR-BOM

This article was in the Mid-Day, in Jan. Sadly, they managed to F' up the airplane type!! The spirit of "Harsha Vardhana" must be turning in it's proverbial grave!! Crying or Very sad

I'm not sure if this is a pic of VT-EGC, but I found this online. The seat covers in the foreground lead me to believe that it's not EGC. Don't know the source / training school here, but there does seem to be a flight engineer's panel in front of the 'aunty'

Any clues to what / where this might be ? A 747, or perhaps one of the old IC A300s sold to another 'Airhostess Academy' ?

Encyclopaedia Meljoepaedia Smile
You beat me to the answer, though my cue was not techincal, it was in the uniform of the cabin crew trainees.
Meljoe, thanks for all these gems of wisdom - your knowledge is simply amazing.
By the way, how does a A300B4 differ from an A300B6 in terms of the FE panel equipment?
Thanks, Sumantra.

sumantra...i've not worked on the A300,so I would not know
those details offhand. But the A300-600ER is a two man
crew,so no FE panel would be present unlike that on the
A300B1/B2/B4.

The Fuel jettison panel is on the lower right.

Besides, there were no B6s operating for AI/ IC...all B4s for AI, though there *might* have been a few early B2s with IA.

Oops... my mistake. All the more embarassing for me, since I had asked a related question on this forum quite some time back, based on the `AB3' and `AB4' seen in the IC timetables then. Many pointed out that the AB3 was the A300B2 and the AB4 was the A300B4.
Cheers, Sumantra.
