| Maybe for the people walking under it so they know whether it's a -700 or -600. |

you seem to be right. checked couple of photos and found 700 on almost all their planes I shot from below. I think it helps ground staff differentiate between their -700 and -800. Will try clicking their -800 from below to acertain the rest half of the theory. _________________ My Love: Nikon D200 + Nikkor 18-200 VR |

frankly can't tell the difference between variants of DC-9s, besides the smaller one NW operates. _________________ My Love: Nikon D200 + Nikkor 18-200 VR |

If it were the -90 then it would have the bigger IAE engines. It almost looks like it does. Are those the only shots you had of it, Aseem? Any bigger versions?
The -81/82/83/88 all pretty much look the same. The -87 is smaller and always has the screwdriver tail. |

Big difference between MD-88 engines and MD-90 engines. The MD-88 uses similar engines to the rest of the MD-8x models, the PW JT8D 200 series while the MD-90 uses the larger IAE V2500s. |
