It was a day trip to BLR. I was booked on IC one way and 9W back. I was on IC105 0615 (VT EYL A320) dep from BO. That meant getting up early in the morning. Off to the airport, checked in. Flight pushed back 0630 and was number 5 for departure. I saw Oman Air and Aerflot also waiting. Take off at 0655. I had one of the best breakfast on all airlines yesterday...Vermicelli Upma, masala idlis with sambar and chtney.. Even the fruits were fresh. The quality wasa surpisingly good for IC. No landing delays landed at 0815. Firstl views was a truly good airport in the middle of nowhere....
We taxiied to gate and i saw a beatiful Gulf Air pushing back.. The airport itself was a very beautiful airport save for one detail which has been complained by many others. toilets...Way too less toilets for the passenger capacity being handled.
Cut to the evening, return on 9W 442, VT-JNY 737-800 with No IFE yet. I was web cheked in but i deliberately came early to check out the airport. I picked up my lounge pass. Bevcuase of no lounges currenntly operational, we were allowed to eat in one of 4 resturants after security. i has a nice sandwich and a smoothie from Barista. Very nice airport with shopping and large seating area.
Flight pushed back at 2046pm, 16 min late. No delay in takeoff at all, we were number 1 . Tookoff and chartered course for BOM. This is where all the problems started. 88 miles from BOM, we were put on a hold pattern at 20000 feet. The captain came on PA and addresses all of us. i could see 2 aircraft in front and 1 behind us. we progreesively lost altitude slowly and as we went closer to BOM, we went on another hold. It was absolute crazy ATC situation last night. Couple with heavy rain and poor visibility, we finally touched down at 2315 and parked at bay close to the terminal (thank god). I was out of the terminal at 2330 because of no check in bags...
All in alll not much any airline could have done with delays that all experienced last night. I hope the performance navigation system to be introduced on aug 1 reduced thesed elays at del and bom..
Thats it for now... Stay tuned for yet another trip report soon.... _________________ http://airliners1.com

Hi Vikram
Thanks for TR and glad to see you had a good trip (barring the delay on the return). How long did it take you to make the airport-city and city-airport run in Bangalore? _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

That's not bad at all, considering that Whitefield to HAL airport could itself take upwards of 45 minutes in "regular BLR traffic". _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

yeah, the taxi guy used the outer ring road and these were times at peak hours (i.e.8.30am in the morning and 5pm in the evening). So 2-3 hrs is almost certainly ruled unless there are major accidents at arterial roads _________________ http://airliners1.com
