Shashanka, these are really beautiful - nice angles, and well-balanced.
Thanks a lot for sharing!
Cheers, Sumantra. |

Shivendra and Avijeet - the IAF had the Su-7s for quite some time.
This type played a part in the 1971 Bangladesh war (rememeber `Jaani' from the film Hindustan Ki Kasam? Raj Kumar explicitly refers to the `Sukhoi'. This was the only Sukhoi that the IAF has used - apart from the Su-30, IIRC.)
It was also around at least in the 1982 IAF Golden Jubilee celebrations: I remember seeing it on television at our neighbours' house.
I think it was retired a few years later.
Cheers, Sumantra. |

Nice pics Vt-ala!
say, did you get a look at the B-24 Liberator they have there? How is it's condition? That is probably the most valuable item in their collection. It is one of only four or five B-24s that exist in the world, and all of them are ex-IAF birds!
About 12,000 B-24s were built during WWII, and only these survive today. Sad end for an iconic bomber which was probably more important than the much celebrated B-17. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

Great pics..... It's great to find that AN-12 out there! I took a look at his flight logs & found that my Dad flew her (BL727) between 1963 & 1968, in Leh, and then later in Chandigarh.
Do they allow you inside the aircraft displayed there?
Anyone know the timings of the IAF Museum / days open? I'd love to visit on my next trip to India. |

I had been there some months ago... I don't know when it opens but closes pretty soon by 5.30 or 6.00.
You cannot go inside any of the aircrafts however... _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld
