My comments (copied from A.net):
Quote: | Excellent - we get a sneak pic of the new AI livery. Kind of surprising that AI has not published a press release etc. on the new livery.
I kind of like this new livery - would be interesting to see how this looks on the 747s and the 310s.
Red Engine, Red underbelly, Red Tail, Red cheat-line, Red "Palace motif around the windows", but what about the nose??? Does it have the red dot as well? |

Normally current planes are re-painted in the new livery whenever they go for a major check (D-check??), but normally not taken out from their current duties for re-painting. |

I love this new livery. I am glad to see the Centaur back on the tails. Also happy to see it more visible on the engines. _________________ Save Maharashtra! |

I like the tail but I find the fuselage a bit too white. _________________ Geniuses are always misunderstood in their lifetimes. |

Well its supposed to be in Feb but it might have been postponed to Mar. Not sure about that.
Also about BOM-JFK, thats what they said. But they being AI are quite capable of using it on BOM-DEL-DXB-COK-BLR-BOM (Sorry if I missed anything out).

Well if this is going on BOM - JFK DL has got some real competition ... have read many a times that delta has problems with its B772ERs completing its BOM - JFK sectors once or twice it had to stop for refuelling
dnt know much abt it ... but i just wish AI sucks all the DL passengers forcing DL to go back to its original routing BOM-CDG-JFK |

Looks good although. But the centaur seems to have been cut. Otherwise ok. When is the delivery scheduled for this aircraft? _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld

My god!
Honey, They've knocked off the palace windows.
Centaur does look a bit cut off. Makes it look like a sea monster, but if you consider the tail width, its okay!!
Thanks Nimish.
Source finally confirmed it, but too late. |

No they have not actually. Take a closer look at the windows. The palace design is still there. They have only got rid of the two red lines above and below the rows of the windows.

The tailfin looks good with the centeaur on it but without the palace windows it looks dull to me.This kinda looks like an ordinary Air France or Lufthansa livery. They should still stick to their current livery which looks colourful. _________________ www.flickr.com/G-BYGB photos |

I think I can see the palace windows on that a/c!!! KCM - are you saying you can't see them, or are you saying they're now planning to do away with them? |

Hi guys wassup.I found my existing a/c was not working on this one so had to signup again.
Well I think AI has finally got a refreshing modern livery but as most of us are complaining the fuselage is a bit plain.Maybe what they could have done is get a thicker cheat line right uptill the bottom of the windows and also increase the font size of the AIR INDIA letters not as big as INDIAN but may be a tad bigger .Also may be add a golden cheat line below or above the red line and end the 2 lines before the nose ,just to complement the golden centaur on the tail which infact looks Very Good. But again its just me who thinks like that but neway nice change.
Regards

Nimish, yes there is a hint of a red outline.
What I meant was the original palace windows. They could have modified it a little. May be added a subtle gold shade dome, or in that Gulf Air brown/gold colour the Centaur is in, to the existing palace window. The original red palace window and a tiny gold dome would have looked great. Would have highlighted the Centaur very well.
It's no longer "Your Palace in the Sky"! That seems to have been removed.
But Air India is supposed to be adding a "Fly well" on the fuselage.
Centaur could also have been a few degrees lower. Seems a bit too steep.
Maharajah may also be really tiny and inside of the doors.
On the whole it looks an Indianised FlyGlobespan Airways!!!
Anyway, the top of the aircraft, and the receivers, confirm that passengers will have lots of IFE options. |

Frankly i feel they have screwed up the livery. As kcm points the centaur could have been tilted a bit less atleast the whole of it should have been put up there. Palace windows barely visibile unlike 747 _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld

Frankly speaking looking at the snap at this angle I am not all that happy with the livery. I hope the livery looks better when the aircraft is completely painted and it is viewed from a different angle.
But nevertheless a much needed change.
Cheers

It'd be better if the white of the fusalage is Marble white, than Euro white, and palace windows are bigger. |

Its nice to see the golden colour used by them.
It has Given it a royal look.
But a draw back is that they shoud have paintes the tail in full red and centaur |

The could have written the titles in both the languages on either side of the fusalage, and full Centaur on tail. |

I think the new Indian (Airlines) livery was 100 times better than the new Air India livery. They clearly messed it up.They should have first got the tail rid of the letters and paint it completely red with the centaur in the middle.Hey btw can liveries get changed at the last moment b4 delivery.Nevertheless if i could rate it on the scale of 10 ill give it a 6.5 just because it looks modern. |

New and Fresh for Air India. This is Air India's one and only chance to make a new image for itself. It must have a great look and a forward attitude not just fancy new Boeings. Wish them luck. otherwise Jet Airways will give them a run for their money soon.
Ps--im back fromIndia (21 Nov-mid Dec). Sorry Nimish--I fell off the planet in Bangalore. Got toooo busy with my travels to Delhi/Amritsar/Jaipur/Haridwar and Chennai. I wish we could have had a Bangalore meet. Ill try and plan better the next time. I saw that u had written to me on the old india airliners.net but it was tooo late to get in touch. Ill keep posting about my experinces. Here are teh flights i took, got to sample the airlines of India.
BA--> ORD-LHR-BLR-LHR-ORD
Spicejet--> BLR-MAA
Go Air--: BLR-DEL-BLR
Missed out of 9W this time, but hopefully they'll be here in teh us soon. _________________ -Vikram |

Just wondering..........does it make sense having a new and totally different livery for AI, when IC is also in the midst of a livery change; as they are to be merged soon.
On merger, will there be a totally new livery or will there be two different liveries? _________________ My Flickr photos

The govt themselves agree that there are a lot of hurdles in the merger process
