Any problems caused? Want to know about BOM cos this is what i clicked on two different days at about 1430 hours both days. Difference is clearly seen. Although it was no great it wasn't that bad either on the second day

Foggy day.

Better visibility conditions

Hi Avijeet,

The fog (actually smog) at BOM has been really bad over the past couple of days. In fact, yesterday as I was driving past the airport, I could hardly see 500 metres inside the periphery.

In fact, BOM airport was shut down yesterday (Sunday - January 14) for 45 minutes due to smog. Read this article from DNA:

I too noticed it over the weekend, Saturday morning especially. Noticed it while driving through Aarey colony.

On Sat 13th, fog was an issue at PNQ since morning. Despite a clear sunny day, horizontal visibility as well as Air Force Platinum Jubilee celebrations caused delays.

Significant other half was on DEL-PNQ early morning 6E/Indigo, which got diverted to BOM.

BizFriend was on PNQ-BLR early morning which got diverted to Chennai.

Thanks. I guess pollution level was more or less the same.

The dnaindia article mentioned that BOM has a CAT 2 ILS, in which case horizontal visibility needs to be more than 1200 feet, or 366 meters.
The pictures you took are nice comparisons, but none of which look anywhere near threatening to disrupting flights.

At BOM its very rare, maybe 1 or 2 nights with bad visability in the rainy season does occur, apart from that its very tolerable for Aviation.
