I intend to add to this post as we come up with more tips related to usage on this forum.

The first tip is to do with how to quote only selected portion of the text, so we don't have 2-3 levels of nested quotes, but only the relevant section.

This is just an example - and I've used text from a thread on Civil-Av.

---------------------
Tips on Quoting previous posts:

This board does not give the option of quoting only selected text. So what I do is to quote the entire text, and then delete the parts that are not relevant.

For example: - here I've quoted a post that already has a quote - so hence 2 quotes.

Code:

[quote="the_380"][quote="JumboJet"]Jet has always been arrogant [/quote]
Yes infact its a typical 'fly if you want to else go to hell' attitude they have...[/quote]

This will appear as
the_380 wrote:
JumboJet wrote:

Yes infact its a typical 'fly if you want to else go to hell' attitude they have...

Now I will edit the JJ part of the text, leaving only the 380 part of the text - which is what I'm replying to:

Code:

[quote="the_380"]
Yes infact its a typical 'fly if you want to else go to hell' attitude they have...[/quote]

- Here I've deleted this code:

Code:

Deleted this part: [quote="JumboJet"]Jet has always been arrogant [/quote]

Now that will appear as:
the_380 wrote:

So you see how I've edited the code and removed the section that was the original text from JJ, and left only 380's response.

Thanks for honouring my post out here lol Laughing
Also you can maybe just highlight the text you wish to quote by selecting it n copying it and pasting in your reply page. Then again select the entire text to be quoted and click on Quote button above

Very good Info.Thanks.
Also alternatively copy pasting the Qouted sentence & using in Itallic font would help too.

My method: Copy the relevant part that I wish to quote; go to the reply page and press quote in the toolbar or enclose it in html code.
