Defintaly width wingspan of the A380 is too big also rwy reinforcement needed. Besides taxitracks and parking bays are not ready either

Mallya is reportedly behind the move. When Leahy was in India recently, Mallya took care of him. Leahy was also making it a point to keep waving around this large plastic model of the 380 in Kingfisher colours every few minutes.

Personally i feel the A380 will come to India like how it did in Australia for the first time. Tail logo will be Airbus and Kingfisher stickers on the fuselage.

Or something like this one

If it does occur [the visit] I'll def be looking forward to seeing this bird much more than the B772LR that visited earlier.

Cochin can. Cochin airport director has said that recently.

May be the defence forces can open up an airbase.
The naval station at Arakkonam, INS Rajali, near Chennai, has SE Asia's longest runway at around 4.2 km long.
Even the tiny IAF runway at Tambaram once had a Saudi 747-300 on a scheduled flight from Jeddah land there by mistake. Finally took off after all the seats and galley equipment were removed to make the plane lighter to make the 5 minute flight back to the regular Chennai airport.

The Saudi pilot landed at Tamabaram because of his incompetence and not because of his skill. Wink

Pilots from Boeing had to be called to take the B747-200 from Tambaram to Chennai.
