Now, if only I had some clout with the 'babus' at AI or the MOCA to get my hands on one of these old 747-237 models that used to be at the AI Bldg. at Nariman Point. Would have been a great addition to my little collection of AI planes that my Dad flew. Wonder what they did with these old beauties !

These AI Models are Still there at the same Booking Office, AI Bldg, Point. An LR has also joined them. I also saw a Combi wid a 4 Wheel Nose Gear. U want that?? |

Yeah, I guess I'd still like it, if only for sentimental reasons. My old man was also type rated for the -337s when they joined the fleet. Plus, it would bring back memories of the AI corp. office in Nariman Point ( back when aviatiors ran the airline, rather than politicians ). Good times!! |

Here is one I created myself - I bought a DC-3 in USAF colors, & used silver spray paint to try & create a model of AI's DC-3 VT-CGP. Needless to say, it didn't come out too good!! I used 1980s vintage AI "Fragile" stickers to get the Air India titles from. Oh well - it was fun doing it. So here it is, not sure of the scale, though!
1:400 scale
Aeroclassics Indian Airlines Airbus A300 VT-EVD
And for good measure, here is the Aeroclassics IC A300 in 1:400 scale. Though not AI, she sits with the rest of my AI models - nostalgia perhaps!
And the one with the 50th Anniversary titles
Gemini Jets Jet Airways Airbus A340-300 VT-JWB
Ok, not quite Air India, but AI did lease VT-JWB from Jet Airways for a month to operate BOM-LHR flights
And while these have nothing to do with AI, I thought I'd add these pics in here too.
Gemini Jets Jet Airways Boeing 777-30ER VT-JEA
Gemini Jets Jet Airways Airbus A330-200 VT-JWF

Wonderful collection man! Phew! Btw, that 743 VT-EPX is Narasimha Varman not Mahendra Varman unless AI changed his name. |

Thats one a/c I cannot forget. I spotted that bird do the BOM-DXB run on the 7th of March 2008, and a few days later it was out of service. It was like seeing it for the last time before resting away. Its so thrilling watching a/cs taxi around takeoff and land back, but its emotional and crushing to see them waiting for their fate endlessly..
.. but when you see them being recycled for the next generation of a/cs.. it gets a bit halka on the heart. |

I totally share your emotions!! Any idea if there are any pics of her in her current state? Perhaps we need a thread on EPX in the photography sections & get our spotters to add pics of her as she lies right now. |

Thanks 380. Was your inflight version of VT-EPX the same as the pic above ? Did you get it 'inflight' as in onboard ? |

Thanks Sam. Did you get an email from UPS (thru Bob) with yr tracking # ? (Might have gone into yr junk mail folder). He apparently sent mine out on the 24th as scheduled, so perhaps he did yours on the same day. I got mine the next day, & I guess yours is on a UPS truck headed your way as we speak. |

I didn't get an UPS notice and I doubt it went in my junk folder since I get them from Nick too. I do see a charge on my account so hopefully it's on its way as you say. |

Yes, it was gifted to me by my grandfather, he had bought it on one of his last flights from Europe. He expired pretty soon after that though. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld

The latest Aviation400 releases do not include the AI 744 VT-AIS. Any clue if & when we could hope to see it ?
Also, any idea if it would have the name "Sanchi" near the flag? The DW VT-AIS didn't have the name, so was wondering if the Av400 might. |

^^^ AV400 is too unpredictable. No sense in waiting, if it comes, it comes.
Anyways, latest from Phoenix:

Searching endlessly? Dragon models are usually not difficult to find. Their production runs are typically higher and their distribution is wider.
Looking forward to your pics though. |

Inflight500 is also releasing the Air India 744 VT-AIS in 1:500.

Is it the one in the old classic colrs, or the new colors ?
If it's the new colors version, could you confirm the name, regn., & raked wingtips. They had a mix up with their latest release where they had VT-ALB named as 'Kalyani'. I believe they later changed the regn. to VT-AIL, but left the raked wingtips as is. So it started off an a LR with a wrong name, & ended up as an ER with raked wingtips. |

Looks like it's finally released. ARD in the UK has it listed with a real photo:
Hopefully it will show up stateside soon.
Can't tell if there's a name or not though. |
