Thanks for that Birendra - it's actually really interesting you said that about the Maharaja. You see my Dad used to be an AI pilot, & when I was a kid, for the longest time believed that the Air India Maharaja was modeled on him!!

Here is my Air India collection. You can see PIA/Biman/Sri Lankan in the background too.
Sorry for the lack of quality:
[/img]
Starting with the top photo from left to right:
Gemini Jets 744
BigBird 742
Herpa L-1011
AeroClassics 707
AeroClassics 707
Dragon 744 (on stand)
Dragon 772 (behind 744)
AeroClassics L-1049
Phoenix AIX 737s VT-AXA/B/C/D/E
Dragon 787
Gemini Jets 772
747-237, both 707s are -400s. A -300 hasn't been made yet but I hope Mr. Klein makes one soon! |

Looks like you got the only AI die-cast model that I don't - the AeroClassics L-1049 (and yeah, there is a Star Jets 747-437 in 1:500).
Good catch on my typo for the 707-400/300 ! I've corrected my list. |

Good luck finding that L-1049. I think there were only a handful made and go for around $300 on eBay if they ever turn up there. I got lucky and found it for much less from a private seller. I have the PIA L-1049 too of which only 10-15 were made. Got a decent deal on that too. Now if I could only find the Ceylon L-1049 my collection would be complete. |

Yeah, that AI Connie is hard to find - only 60 were made - wonder why!!
I'm glad I got my hands on those 2 Aeroclassics 707s - I really wanted those since my Dad flew those before he moved on to the 747-237s. But thanks for wishing me luck on finding the L-1049! Let me know if you ever come across someone selling one of those. |

I'll certainly let you know but check sites like 400scalehangar.net, diecastaircraftforum.com and airlinebuzz.com in their "Trader" sections. You probably already know of these sites.
As to why 60, they were all hand made and were decaled, not painted. They are first generation AeroClassics models. They are pretty crude compared to todays models but if you want a complete collection you have to have it. |

Phewwwwwwwwwwww!!!!
The care and dedication is obvious.
And Deaphen, do you have to use a page of your law textbook as a base?
Sammyk, 747
You should let Air India know about this. In the suggestions to improve their website, you could say that they retail and sell Air India aircraft models.
Attach clips of what you have to let them know what you are talking about!!!
They are so desperate to woo back traffic in light of the entry of Jet and soon Kingfisher that they'll grab at any idea now.
Rutvij has an input that says they will have lucky draws on the 777LR flights/US flights and prizes will be laptops and iPods.
AI is also going to be hawking dual flag (US and India) lapel pins on these flights. |

That model is not due until August at the earliest, what makes you think they changed their mind? Rather, what on that link makes you think that?
With that said, Dragon has been known to cancel announced models. Some charter airlines were recent victims of this. So I wouldn't be surprised about it this time either but usually there is some notification. |

Oh, that doesn't mean anything. These models are made in limited runs. Dragon usually makes maybe 2500 and once the run is made production of that model is stopped. If you check most other models you will see that they all have the same "Production Stopped" status. Those that do not have that status (at least in that database) means the database editor missed/didn't get around to it or they are one of those Herpa models that has continued production. |

Yah, I'm waiting for a 743 too...hopefully on the Big Bird mold.
No Jet Airways models in 1/400.
There is a new India based airline model coming this month though but that is all I can say for now. |
