Just got the AI 330 myself, nice one but kind of expected the VT- regs.

Dragon Wings seems to specialize in models of aircraft that AI has leased, so I guess in that way it makes sense to have the earlier reg. on the 330.

Yah, Dragon is notorious for using factory regs.

That looks sweet. Dragon has the best 744 mold out there.

I wonder if this means the Saudi 744 is out too.

Anyways, back to AI models, Aviation 400 is going to be releasing a 744 in new livery as well. They use a somewhat modified BigBird mold so that's a good thing. I bought their Kuwait 742 which turned out nice so hopefully the AI model will too.

Any idea when that would be ?? Aviation 400 doesn't seem to have a website, do they ??

They say April but who knows. Seems the models do eventually come out though. Their 707, 747, and 767 seem to be pretty good. I haven't seen the L-1011 yet but I have one on order. Their 732 is a bit iffy and not sure about how their 737NGs are.

http://www.aviation400.com leads to the Witty site which is the factory that makes them. The good thing about them is that they're reasonably priced.

Oh and Nick carries them.

The Aviation400 & the Dragon 744 impressions look pretty standardized, it would be good to see them together up close.

The major difference will be that the AV400 will have metal wings.

Just imagine the BigBird 744 but with a seamless wing join and you have the AV400. Some minor quality control issues but overall a decent mold.

Hmm, looking at AV400s illustration they got the engine graphics wrong. Hopefully they fix that before production.

I also do not notice the name "Sanchi" on either illustration, & I hope they will have it on the actual model.
Hope Nick gets them soon - at least the Dragon!!

Flight Miniatures Snap- together 747-400 VT-ESM "Konark"

Here is one I created myself - I bought a DC-3 in USAF colors, & used silver spray paint to try & create a model of AI's DC-3 VT-CGP. Needless to say, it didn't come out too good!! I used 1980s vintage AI "Fragile" stickers to get the Air India titles from. Oh well - it was fun doing it. So here it is, not sure of the scale, though!

1:400 scale

Aeroclassics Indian Airlines Airbus A300 VT-EVD

And for good measure, here is the Aeroclassics IC A300 in 1:400 scale. Though not AI, she sits with the rest of my AI models - nostalgia perhaps!

And the one with the 50th Anniversary titles

Gemini Jets Jet Airways Airbus A340-300 VT-JWB

Ok, not quite Air India, but AI did lease VT-JWB from Jet Airways for a month to operate BOM-LHR flights

And

Gemini Jets Jet Airways Boeing 777-30ER VT-JEA

Gemini Jets Jet Airways Airbus A330-200 VT-JWF

Looks like it so far. AV400 has been inconsistent so far so who knows. I'm waiting for the IF200 AI 707 too but a least with that they showed us a picture of a sample.

Yeah, the IF200 AI 707 had a release date of Jan '08 and was available for pre-order on a few retailer's websites for $99 approx. Wonder when we get to see the actual product!

Oh yah, forgot about that one. I'll be getting it too as I have a "Sub-Continent" collection. It will be only the second Biman model in 1/400.

The Jet-X mold is not that great though as they no longer use Dragon's.

IF200s AI 707 has been released.

However, there's been a spelling error. Instead of Annapurna they have spelled it Annapoorna.

Try http://www.flightonemodels.com/

I've bought from him before and deals in larger scales.

You can also try JetCollector.com. Those guys are always good.

Unfortunately Nick doesn't carry the IF line.

Are there any places that sell AI models in 1/500 scale?

It fits best with my other models, all in 1/500 scale.

I got some of my AI models in 1/500 scale at the AMS airport store (Herpa & Schabak), some on board AI (do they still sell Schabak models onboard?), & a few I got on eBay. Perhaps eBay would be the best bet for 1:500, else some retailers like Justplanefun might have a few (the two AI 707s in 1:500).

Sammy, this one on A.net shows her name. I take it you were trying to confirm the "purna" v/s "poorna" issue ?

Yep, have you been reading the posts on the diecast forums?

I know about the one on A.net but was wondering if there were any other pictures out there where it is 100% clear.

What's your opinion on whether it may have been spelled 'poorna' at anytime after a repaint?
