This suspension will put upwards pressure on N. American summer fares which were already higher than last year due to Jet's withdrawal. In addition Air Canada has suspended Toronto to DEL in July and Aug.

May be all due to Pak airspace closure, even though they opened a corridor in W. Pakistan, but is beneficial only for cities BOM and south.

I wonder what Pak is waiting for, now that the elections are over and Modi has retained power.

Had no idea they'd suspended DEL ops.

Sanjay, UA wasn't doing spectacularly on the US-India route, and their default one-piece baggage rule wasn't helping (some travel agents manage to get itineraries with two pieces, for about the same price). However, they were getting good loads. Thankfully for UA, there is space more more than one carrier on BOM-EWR.
The Pakistan airspace closure: petty politics. They will lose buckets in overflight charges, but will still want to hurt India.
Cheers, Sumantra.
