Being part of the alliance only gets a few award miles and award travel. Even that on Skyteam with DL it is complicated. Just look at United, which is very uncooperative at its hubs for connecting flights. No wonder that China Southern wants to leave. However QR may have no choice but to stick with OW for now until the relations of Qatar with UAE and Saudi are sorted.
