I am from Nagpur a couple of hours back i heard an aircraft flying overhead. Looked up saw a plane bit lower than the normal cruising altitude. Checked on flightradar it was siliguri-mumbai jet Airways flight aircraft reg VT-SJJ and it was cruising just at 16000 ft. I checked the playback on flight radar and since it took off from siliguri it never climbed above 16000 feet. Does anyone has an idea why was it cruising at such a low altitude??

Very disturbing if true.

There may have been a pressurization failure but if so, the pilot should have diverted to another airport like CCU, instead of flying all the way to BOM.

Its true. Even i guessed that it must be a pressurisation problem. You can check history of VT-SJJ on flightradar and playback the siliguri-mumbai leg. It cruised at 16000 ft all the way to mumbai
