Hello!
I had the chance to fly to Bangalore in April 2018. Again, I flew Lufthansa, for they offered the best round trip fares. I was also able to add on to my Miles & More points tally.
There was nothing drastically different between my trip in April 2017 and this one, except for an equipment change. An Airbus A340-300 operated the Detroit-Frankfurt route in April 2017. This changed to the legendary queen of the skies, the Boeing 747-400 in 2018. This was my first flight on the -400 variant, and I was super excited to fly on this beast, given that Lufthansa plans to replace them with the Boeing 777-9 starting 2020. Captain Günther Zöhrer was in command of LH442, and executed a butter-smooth landing in Frankfurt to bring an uneventful 7 hour 15 minute ride across the pond to an end.
Apart from some absolutely tasteless food on LH442 (the food was better suited for those recovering in a hospital), and a long layover in Frankfurt, Lufthansa was wonderful and efficient, once again. The food on the Frankfurt-Bangalore leg was much better. I also managed to get some much needed sleep on board. Captain Hoffman was in-charge of the Boeing 747-8i, and gave us a wonderful ride to the Garden City.
I don't want to bore you with another DTW-FRA-BLR trip report again (I'm thinking of doing one for the return leg though), so I'll leave you with this short summary and a link to Aviation Photography Channel on this forum, where I've posted photographs that I took on this trip.

Lovely, Ananth: please do not get the idea that routes and airports that you do often, will not interest your readers. They do! Thank you for the lovely DTW photos. This brought back some memories for me, circa 2005, when it was NW-territory: some of the areas you have captured.
Lovely FRA pics, especially the sunrise one!
Wow, you caught three LH B747 liveries in one airport visit.
Well I loved the photo-essay, and did comment on it earlier.
Thank you for sharing this with us!
Cheers, Sumantra. |
