Edited: Unable to confirm closure of air space.

More woes for QR. Saudi, Egypt, Bahrain and UAE have broken relations with Qatar, and may even close the air space.

This could be another opportunity for AI and Jet. These are good times for the Indian carriers and recent expansions come at the right time.

This also means that QR will be desperate to expand in India with a domestic carrier, may even AI could be attractive, considering the situation now.

It's been confirmed - they will close their airspace to Qatari carriers from June 6, at the stroke of midnight.

This is not an opportunity for anyone.

This is a horrible, desperate act by the Saudis, custodians of the world's number one terrorism exporting nation trying to play top dog in the ME, courtesy of the recent embrace the idiotic American Orange Idiot just gave them.

Oil prices will likely skyrocket and all that expansion by AI to Scandinavia and Spain and Saskatchewan will go the way of the dodo.

Given what's at stake, the Qataris may play ball and put the leash on Al Jazeera, but they may not. Unlike the Saudis, they're not broke, their citizens have among the world's highest standards of living (and per capita income), and they've invested wisely instead of buying tacky gold plated toilet bowls.

Kettle calling the pot black?
Brothers in arms (read terrorist financing) suddenly not liking each other...

The world is well supplied in oil and will continue as US producers are continuing to ramp up production. This may even cause a rift in OPEC and if this split escalates, may result in increase in production from Qatar. I doubt the oil price will suddenly rise much.

Don't forget Iran. In addition to their own oil, they also control much of Iraq's oil through their proxy government in Iraq. Iran and Iraq together can match Saudi's output.

I don't think it will affect oil prices too much unless war breaks out (which is not happening). Oil production will continue. Ironically this travel ban was done to make Qatari lives harder to affect change (sound familiar). And I agree it is a bit rich coming from the Saudis maybe someone will give them a taste of their own management techniques. I think what might help AI 9W et all is that the ME is looking less stable. Some (and I mean SOME) might want to avoid transiting or visiting there. One negative could be that QR slashes fares EX India to help fill flights to the EU and US.
