A 333 seems like a lot of lift to me. Anyone figured out why Malaysia consistently shows up as a prime tourist destination for Indians yet no Indian carrier can make flights work? Are the Malaysian carriers just dumping seats? |

It just does not make any financial sense for an Indian carrier to try and make a dent in the market now. Forget FSCs...even successful LCCs like 6E will not venture into this bloodbath. At least, not in the near future. They do not stand even a half-chance.
Cheers, Sumantra. |

What is preventing Jet and/or AI to make a run at the FSC segment that MH has, and MH has its own issues. Most of the O & D is still primarily Indian origin and Jet/AI with a bunch of code shares from Kuala Lumpur and offering connections to Malaysian residents via DEL or BOM, can make it work. Agreed on the LCC's, even 6E or AI express cannot make a dent. AI express has an outside chance from Tiruchirapalli. |

Yields are crap ex-Malaysia as the cut-throat competition between Malindo, AirAsia and Malaysia have driven fares to rock bottom.
Do not discount MH - they've rebounded quite well and are holding their own against AirAsia and Malindo.
Add to the fact that KL is only good for funnelling traffic onward to Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, Thailand - and its a lose-lose proposition for Indian carriers.
Even IX had to pull out of Malaysia because according to them - the route was their only loss-making route _________________ |

See I view this as another instance of a country using Indian traffic to essentially fill planes while maintaining higher yields on their home routes - which is called SEAT DUMPING. I know now someone will say but its good for the Indian consumer blah blah blah. I say it isn't. Flights to KUL should be priced fairly. Maybe the ASEAN open skies hasn't worked. Also Indian is very poorly connected to SE Asia from a nonstop perspective. This doesn't help |
