2016 ends on a high note for Indian Aviation

Airlines in India ended a dream 2016 carrying 99.88 million passengers, falling just short of the 100 million passenger mark.

Two airlines stood out in the entire year, Spicejet which kept their load factors above 90% for the entire year and IndiGo which went from strength to strength despite the issues with A320neo. The airline which limited its expansion in terms of number of stations added umpteen flights to cross the 40% barrier of Market Share. How both these airlines perform financially would be known in few days from now when the airlines file their Q3 results with the stock exchange.

-> Interestingly, all the predictions done for 2016 have come out to be true !

Is that reason enough for us not to absolutely adore your articles?
Very nice article with a nice overall round-up, and summary.
The choice of appropriate colours in the graphs is also thoughtful: you have tried to get colours closest to the airlines' livery in many cases. A nice touch!
Once again, a lovely perspective on things to look for in the new year.
To me, the UDAN and RDG part look most exciting, to see network additions and changes. Nice perspectives on what airlines have it in store for them as well. Thank you very much!
Cheers, Sumantra.

Thank you so much. UDAN may not be a game changer. Expecting flights in the North - which will be affected by weather and in East which could again face the same issue.
