So what is Jet going to do with the aircraft? Also any more details on the Jet Delta KLM partnership. Still no word on what miles and MQMs we will actually earn. Also code shares not published although Jet's flight to AMS now show up

Pity.

Jet's J class on the 77Ws is far more comfortable than EY's.

Traveled with 9W/EY

GAU-DEL-AUH-MAN (9w-ey-ey)
MAN-BRU-DEL-GAU (9w)

Pros:
Onward: Nothing
Return: BRU needs no transfer security!

Cons:
Itinerary was not available/very expensive in 9w/ey websites; booked with OTA

Online checkin nightmare/call centre clueless

Airport checkin (through) at GAU; but had to go to EY counters at DEL to get real BP (the 9w transfer desk at DEL told 9W BP for EY flights not acceptable Shocked Shocked ) so much for the partnership. This is beyond me-even AI BP was accepted for SQ flights at DEL transfer..

Nightmare at EY checkin at DEL-long long ques; but helped to bypass the que since checkin luggage was through checked in!

Ques at security and immig took more than 1 hr (painful after seeing empty transfer security/imm)

JP FFP no not in EY boarding passes; had to ask many at EY to do it..finally done though at AUH

Finally a status in a FFP for me..SILVER with 9w..for whatever it is worth..

Jet Airways to move HC for shareholders meet on merger

Jan 07, 2016

Jet Airways is likely to soon move the Bombay High Court to seek approval for convening shareholders meet on the merger of its subsidiary JetLite with the parent company.

Market regulator Sebi has already approved the merger of JetLite into Jet Airways late last year, airline sources said today. Jet Airways had bought Sahara Airlines in April 2007 for Rs 1,450 crore after an arbitration award. It later renamed Sahara Airlines as JetLite and operated it as a low-cost arm till November 2014.

The merger is expected to be completed this fiscal. “Sebi (Security Exchange Board of India) has given its go ahead to the merger late last year. We are now contemplating to approach the Bombay High Court, asking it to allow us convene shareholders meet and take their approval to the merger,” sources said.

Jet Airways is likely to move the court in this regard next week, they said. The Jet Airways board had in September last year approved a proposal to make JetLite a business division of the parent company for better synergy and efficiency in operations besides cost savings by way of merger.

What about DEL-BOM? No delta codeshare there? Will the CDG-BOM flight operated by Jet that AF codeshare's be included (I really hope so as it has a great departure time from BOM), Also have they announced miles earning or redeeming with Jet? And the EWR flight is strange as Delta would have people stop in AMS for 7 hours on the way back (BOM-AMS-EWR). Really hope Jet stays in EWR and code shares with Delta EWR-AMS. Sad to have Jet not serve one US city with its own metal (and the one to serve is definitely EWR).

PostPosted: Tue Jan 26, 2016 7:36 pm    Post subject: German Opens Plane's Emergency Door For 'Fun' At Mumbai Reply with quote

Business was not as usual for Jet Airways on Sunday as they had to report two of their passengers to the police for breaking rules.

Germany's Steve Titschler, who arrived in Mumbai by Jet Airways 9W 585 from Abu Dhabi, opened the aircraft's emergency door while it was parked in the bay. When interrogated by the crewmembers, who rushed to the spot on seeing this, Titschler said he did that "just for fun".

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was then called in to take the passenger to Sahar police station. Titschler also had to board Jet Airways' flight to Delhi at 3 pm, which he wasn't allowed to do. An FIR was registered against him under IPC Sections 336 and 29 of Aircraft Rule, 1937.

Up in smoke

Ravi Dhankar, who was on his way back to Mumbai from Singapore on flight 9W 09, was arrested after he was found smoking in the flight washroom on Sunday.

An airline official said Dhankar was so inebriated that he could not answer the crewmembers questions. "Dhankar started smoking near the lavatory and was noticed by his co-passengers, who informed the crewmembers, who then asked him to put out the cigarette immediately," said an airline source.

After the flight landed at Mumbai airport, the airline's security team took Dhankar to Sahar police station. An FIR was registered against him under IPC Sections 336 and 29 of Aircraft Rule, 1937.

Airline says

A Jet Airways spokesperson said, "A guest travelling on Jet Airways flight 9W 09 from Singapore to Mumbai on Sunday was found smoking in the toilet by cabin crew. He was immediately warned and his cigarette packet and lighter were confiscated. On landing in Mumbai, the guest was handed over to the security agencies. Jet Airways accords highest priority to safety of its guests and all our crew members are trained to handle such situations."

"A guest, who travelled from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai by Jet Airways flight 9W 585, on Sunday opened the emergency exit after the aircraft was parked at the bay. The matter was reported to the security agencies," said the spokesperson.

What is the punishment if found guilty under this rule? Is it just a fine and warning or is there a jail term involved?

Given the date of enactment (1937) and the general nature of the laws enacted in those times, it looks to me like the two blokes will be sent off to gaol for a few years atleast.

Jet Airways launches new booking feature - 'Farelock'

Jan 29, 2016

Jet Airways has introduced a unique booking feature called FareLock, which allows passengers the flexibility to retain a selected fare for a limited period before confirming the purchase at a later date.

A release issued the airline on Friday said that Jet is the first airline in India to launch this innovative feature. "FareLock is applicable for flights across the Jet Airways' network. It's available on the airline's online platforms, its website jetairways.com, the mobile site and the mobile app," the release said.

Once a buyer selects the FareLock option, they will need to pay a nominal fee of Rs. 350 for a domestic ticket and Rs. 700 for an international ticket to lock the available fare. They can return to any of the Jet Airways online platforms within the next 72 hours to purchase the tickets and confirm their booking at the pre-selected fare by using the Manage Booking feature.

Gaurang Shetty, senior VP commercial, Jet Airways, said: "This unique feature allows guests to have greater flexibility in planning their travel while locking fares in advance of the actual purchase."

Some fairly heavy duty changes in atr flying across 9w network. Very irritatingly they haven't loaded all the flights in both directions giving a fairly confusing picture
Overall, bom loses its sole atr and a consequence BOM BHJ and BOM IXU both go double daily 737. Other atr sectors from bom are dropped all together.
Ex Delhi atrs go off DEL IDR and DEL BHO and instead do high frequency runs on DEL JAI (likely 5 daily) and DEL DED (likely 4 daily).
BLR seems to get atleast one atr more with MAA BLR likely to go upwards of 10 daily (BLR MAA is already showing 10 daily and MAA BLR 12 daily)
BLR HYD goes up to 4 daily. CCU might be also losing one ATR to the south sectors.
The changes in 737 flying are pretty confusing at this stage as not all flights are loaded consistently

You should send that over to Jet because I doubt if they know where their airplanes are.

So, it looks like they're down to just 4 77Ws flying on Jet coded flights (BOM-LHR (2D), BOM-HKG (D), DEL-LHR (D)), and just 4 332s. Two of those must do the daily BOM-CDG and DEL-HKG rotations, the other two must be "hawa khaoing"on the tarmac.

Not sure how they'll utilize their A333s now that they won't two each for EWR and YYZ.

In any case, they seem completely lost as usual.

Sources said Jet was considering launching a second Delhi-London flight with a Boeing 777 aircraft upon end of lease term.
Sources said the Jet management is evaluating options to deploy the 777s on existing or new routes or further lease or sell these aircraft upon return from Etihad. Last year, Jet Airways was planning to sell or lease back its entire wide-body fleet to raise cash and retire a portion of its Rs 12,000-crore debt, but the plan did not take off.

It may also deploy an Airbus A330 plane (currently on Brussels-Newark route) on Mumbai-Singapore route.

Does EY really think the way to grow their investment is to have Jet not fly anywhere? I mean if the ME3 think that a market like india will permanently not have non stop flights to major cities, they are crazy. It also really looks like EY is totally controlling 9W (I know its been obvious for a while - I just thought EY would at least grow 9W a bit). This is where 9W taking a ME3 investment rather than one from a EU or American airline probably will really hurt. EY doesn't seem to want to improve 9W or let it grow. Look at what Delta is trying to do with GOL in Brazil. From my pov, 9W needs the 787-9 asap and should begin BOM-SFO and BOM-EWR nonstop flights. Those two markets have J class demand from BOM (and then the short connector to BLR, MAA and HYD is actually tolerable for business travelers - when my EY flight JFK-AUH was delayed MAA and HYD pax had to overnight in AUH - a BOM delay would probably be easily sorted for most domestic connections). Also the DL codeshare with 9W is meager. Too bad they couldn't do something bigger. And still no word from DL on earning miles with 9W.

Oh and btw why aren't 9W and Alitalia cooperating? Between them no one can get a MXP or ROME flight going? Its like EY thinks again all Italy to India traffic should just go through AUH. South Africa is another place now with no nonstop to India after EY made 9W stop then SA to stop. The only way EY can really take on EK in India is to have a good mix of non stops by 9W and then funnel secondary international markets as well as added frequency through AUH. Btw this is how DL, AF, KLM work for US-EU and its great - sometimes on a nonstop or a connector if want a different time or smaller city. Everything through AUH will not work in the long run. Star will continue to be the mE3 biggest issue in India.

Jet Airways to launch in-flight wireless streaming service

February 1, 2016

Jet Airways, India's premier airline, on Monday announced the introduction of an in-flight streaming service that will enable wireless streaming of a wide range of movies, TV programmes, and music directly onto guests' Wi-Fi enabled personal devices. The solution will help the passengers to directly view onboard content on their smartphones, tablets and laptops.

The wireless streaming service will available for the airline's guests from the second quarter of 2016. Jet Airways will roll out the user-friendly and interactive interface which will enable the guests to make a choice from a wide range of multilingual content available onboard.

The new system has been developed in collaboration with with Global Eagle Entertainment Inc, a global leader in media content, technology and connectivity solutions to the travel industry, it said in a statement.

The airline further plans to upgrade to a full satellite connectivity in the future that will allow guests to have access to a range of services like internet surfing, e-mail, social media, connecting flight information, instant messaging, real time travel services and destination deals.

The in-flight entertainment (IFE) streaming service is futuristic and will offer a delightful experience to all the passengers onboard.

So what is Jet doing in EWR are they going to fly EWR-AMS or EWR-AUH or nothing? Their is no Delta codeshare showing up for Jet and the Delta EWR-AMS flight has a 3.5 hour layover on the way to india and a 7+ hour layover on the way back!!! EWR has no ME3 competition. What is Jet doing???

Also Delta still hasn't said how Skymiles will be earned on 9W. Seems like everything with Indian airlines (even partnerships) are so much slower than others (or it seems).

Do people know if 9W will maintain their own people in AMS or will they use KLM. I hope they have some 9W staff mixed with KLM & Delta (so you get the both sides to help depending on the issue). While I love transiting through AMS, I always felt that the KLM staff were a bit indifferent about their Indian pax flying DL to BOM back in the day.

My experiences have been different.

I've always found KLM staff at AMS extremely helpful and professional. This, when I lived in AMS for several years and was flying KL through Schiphol all the time. So it is not a one-off observation.

It is the 9W staff at Indian airports that put me off. Don't know where they find such arrogant morons. The ones in DEL are the worst, with BOM not far behind. I sincerely hope none of these fools are sent to AMS.

The only KLM staff at AMS I dealt with was while boarding. Lovely people.

The_Goat: Quite the opposite for me. I had quite an adventure on the way back with Jet, but the situation was handled very well by them. More on this later....

I must admit, my 5 hour transit in AMS was, unfortunately, one of the worst. It was quite a rude surprise Sad
CDG T2E, however, was quite different. Again, more on these soon....

Regards
Jish

Jet crew suspended for allowing Sonu Nigam concert inflight

NEW DELHI: Sharing a flight with a celebrity singer and having him croon hit Bollywood numbers over the in-flight announcement system may give many flyers an ultimate high, but don't expect the Indian aviation regulator to cheer from the aisles.

Jet Airways plans overhaul of its management structure; CEO, COO & senior execs to be recruited

6 Feb, 2016

Jet Airways, which has seen a series of top-level exits after the entry of Etihad as a 24% investor in 2012, is planning an overhaul of its management structure, including the appointment of a new CEO.

A chief commercial officer and a chief operations officer will be among about a dozen senior executives to be hired, said four people aware of the matter.

Founder Naresh Goyal is playing an instrumental role in finding new people, according to executives and analysts. This shows that he is still taking major corporate decisions although Etihad has been having a big say in deciding where Jet flies, they said. Jet has also appointed a global headhunter to look for talent.
