Our Air India can learn a lesson or two from this.

No question of donating anything when the planes have to be returned to the lessor intact Rolling Eyes

Yes, those cannibalized frames can be donated to some university. But with all the parts removed, it is debatable whether the poor students will be able to learn anything useful from them. Unless of course, the college in question is running a specialization on airplane cannibalization.

The IAF and Navy do donate their old planes to universities on a regular basis, though.

I think that you either haven't read my post correctly, or have had problems understanding it.

I never said there were no uses for such airframes.

All I said, in reply to your statement that AI should take a lesson from BA, is that since AI is mostly into selling aircraft to lessors and leasing them back again, there is no question of them donating any aircraft to anyone.

and of course, you seem to have missed the sarcasm completely.

I am talking about the second part of your post. The university in question has not got the aircraft without a reason. and I dont think they are going to use it to start a used parts business either. They have done some good work on the A380 programme among many others, an aircraft some of you are going "ga ga" over and over and is one of the leading institutions in the the world in air safey investigation.

Also last I heard AI is still insuring some antiqueated 732 freighers (yes may as you said to give it to the lessors in tip top condition).

I think you overloaded the sarcasm so much that it sounds as outright ignorance atleast to me Very Happy .
