BAE -146 (RJ-70) is capable of landing in short runways. It requires a runway shorter than a B737-200. This makes it ideal for landing in airports like Dehradoon.

Was in service with Druk Air and did great service in Bhutan with the difficult approaches and terrible weather.

The BAe146 technical data says:
The 146 provides versatile and low noise operation for noise-sensitive approach and take-off paths, capability of short steep approaches into city airports or onto difficult airfields with minimal ground facilities.

Two baggage holds each equipped with a large access door allow simultaneous loading. The low fuselage means that baggage can be hand loaded directly from trolleys without the need for airport conveyor equipment. The very easy and fast baggage handling contributes to the 146 regularly achieving in-service turnarounds of just 12mins. Exclamation
Four turbofan engines, type ALF 502R-5 from Textron Lycoming (now Honeywell), each rated at 31kN are installed in underwing pods. The high bypass ratio fan jet results in the aircraft's outstandingly low noise operation and, gives a ground footprint for approach and take-off less than half the area than a typical twin turboprop aircraft.

The aircraft is fitted with large landing gear. The dual rate shock absorbers and wide wheel track give stable handling in crosswinds and when taxiing. The tricycle type landing gear designed by Dowty is hydraulically retractable. The twin Dunlop wheels on each unit can be fitted with optional low pressure tyres for operation from unpaved, low bearing airstrips or from semi-prepared strips. The aircraft is fitted with multi-disc carbon brakes with brake cooling fans on the axles.

The auxiliary power unit, GTCP 36-150, supplied by Garrett-AiResearch is installed in a fireproof bay in the rear fuselage. The APU powered systems, the on board airstairs and the waist high baggage holds allow the 146 aircraft to be completely independent of the ground services. Only the refuelling operation requires ground equipment, i.e. step ladders. All other service points and service hatches, including the baggage hold access are accessible from ground level.

May be a winner for MDLR in the end. Exclamation

Excuse me what am i suppose to infer when u say that the hindi stuff makes its look more worse than a DTC/BEST Bus. Choose your words carefully TSK911 before u dash something on the forum. I hope u have read the rules carefully and i hope u understand what i mean.

As for LCC,s INR 9, INR 10 tickets are concerned. Its a marketing glimmick. Since they are catering to the price sensitive segment its only the cheap air tickets which is their core competency on which they are competeting.

I guess airlines is correct on their positions when they advertise about their cheap tkts because taxes is something which is anyways going to govt,s kitty. Its only that 10 or 100 rupees which the airline is getting.

Just becoz someof us have nt been able to get their hands on those cheap fares which they advertise and most of the time the fares are at par with full service carriers doesnt mean that airline is promoting false propoganda..

cool down folks!! back to MDLR's prospects....I had asked how well will they do if they considered connecting secondary cities. Runs like Bhopal to Jaipur, or Ahmedabad to Nagpur etc....under this kind of operation, which city shall be best suited as hub for them ..I was contemplating Agra as their northern hub...it is placed at confluence of UP, Delhi, Rajasthan and MP.....and is part of golden triangle as well....

I'm not abusing anyone or writing dirty stuff..... So, if I express my feelings by comparing it with a DTC/Best bus it no where points to something dirty.
And talking about choosing words wisely, I don't think that DTC and Best amount to something non justified. If you think so, then I can't help it out.
And for that CHOO LO AASMAN, there's always a standard as to how to present a thing and the way it has been presented in a funky manner points toward the tastes of the management and their standard of thoughts.
