http://theflyingengineer.com/2013/10/15/finally-the-first-flight-air-costa/
Air Costa has inaugurated their flight services by landing at Bangalore (BLR, VOBL) at 07:45IST, operating as flight LB601 from Vijayawada (VGA, VOBZ). This marks a new chapter in the history of Indian Regional Aviation.
The flight was operated by VT-LNR, An Embraer 170AR, with manufacturer serial number MSN 293. Reportedly, LB601 did not operate with an airline call-sign, but rather the registration itself. Radio calls were made as “Victor Tango Lima November Romeo”, not the shortened “Victor November Romeo”. Bangalore International Airport (Kempegowda International Airport) does not yet list the flight or the airline on their website. _________________ 11000 posts (and counting) on Airliners-India.

Really looking forward to it, Rishul.

So they changed MAA-JAI non-stop into one-stop via HYD. |

What am I missing ? We need to know the other aircraft rotation
JAI-MAA is non stop one way, so the other aircraft would be going it the other way and then continue to BLR to complete the BLR-JAI return I assume |

I booked a ticket VGA-BLR but was constrained to cancel it, a few days ago.
my obs:
the toll free no was not answered despite trying ofter over a period of 3-4 hrs. The AMD airport office no was answered promptly but I was told to proceed to the airport for booking. The web booking was smooth and hassle-free.
When I cancelled, I again tried the toll free no. A taped message informed that the no was "blocked". Web cancellation was simple. but I received no confirmation by e-mail/sms.
I hope I get a refund fast. The "blocked" message was a bit disconcerting. |

There was a small mistake. The correct rotation as per their booking engine is
a/c 1
VGA-BLR-JAI-MAA-HYD-JAI-HYD-MAA
a/c 2
MAA-AMD-MAA-JAI-BLR-VGA
So twice daily to JAI from MAA with a non-stop and one-stop service. |

I'm surprised at their choice of Jaipur as a destination.
Why did they not choose some other place with more demand from the South, like BOM, DEL or CCU? _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

BOM and DEL have 20+ flights from BLR, MAA and HYD and CCU has adequate competition also. JAI has little competition (in fact MAA has no nonstops to JAI, until Air Costa started flying), plus BOM is congested and tough to get desired slots.
Two routes they can start is Vijayawada/Madurai- BOM and DEL nonstops, there are no nonstop flights now. |

India's Air Costa to unveils Hyderabad as second hub this month
04DEC2013
Air Costa is set to unveil Hyderabad Int'l as its second operating hub effective December 10. According to the airline, flights will be offered to Chennai, Vijayawada, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Bangalore Int'l using its fleet of two EMB-170s. In October, LEPL Group, a Vijayawada-based real estate and renewable energy company, announced plans to invest over INR6.17billion (USD100 million) into the airline over the next two years. The funds will be used to increase the airline's fleet by two EMB-190s by year-end with a further five aircraft due next year. In the long term, Air Costa aims to operate a total of twenty-five aircraft by 2018. _________________ 11000 posts (and counting) on Airliners-India.

^^ What does Hub mean in this context? Will the a/c overnight there? Because I don't think this means hub in the traditional "connection banks" way. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

I hope they use the 170s and 190s to manage the inventory properly.
The increased seats in 190 should be managed well. Had a small discussion on this with Nimish the other day in BLR |

The airline is owned by them. They can put up their family trees on the fuselage if they wish to.
and it is too early to say if they are a lala run business. Let's wish them well.
It is far better than AI registering its A320/321 series as VT-PP*, after that bl**dy you know who! _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

The 4 new A320s are in the ED* series, the older ones are a bit scattered. The A319s are in the SC* series, possibly after the initials of one of the `teen deviyan' Indian Airlines team of Sunil Arora, one of the three super-efficient lady managers in the airline, Ms Sushma Chawla. Indian Airlines was never a stuttering behemoth. It may have made some losses in the interim under PP but it was never as bad as AI.
In fact, IC dominated the domestic scene even after 9W and the others came about. It was only the arrival of the LCCs (and the merger with AI), that put an end to their dominance.
and while Sushma Chawla and Trivedi may have done a decent job, they did no one any favours. They were paid to do what they did. As for PP, he did nothing besides loot. Using their initials as aircraft registrations is downright disgusting. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).
