|
|
Just want to ask our US based members whether the shutdown has impacted life adversely?
Are the immigration and security services in airports affected in any way? How about other emergency services?
For the past two days all US government websites are carrying this disclaimer
"The information on this web site remains accessible; but, due to the lapse in government funding, the information may not be up to date, and the agency may not be able to respond to inquiries until appropriations are enacted. For updates regarding government operating status see USA.gov." _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

Well, it's made my commute better with a lot of people off the road.
Seriously though, no affect on me personally.
All essential services are still running such as security, emergency services, ATC, etc. They just don't get paid. |

I took a couple domestic flights; noticed nothing different at the airport. Lines were the same as always. No ATC related delays. |

No affect on me personally, flew MCO-IND and IND-DTW-MCO and did not notice anything irregular. Though I do feel bad for the veterans here at ERAU as they are unable to receive their benefits as the staff that process them are considered non-essential.
On a lighter note:

The President has kept the FAA - and the TSA - fully operational.
For obvious safety reasons.
However, the NIH, FDA, EPA, Depts of Defense, Education, Health and Human Services, Federal Courts, INS, IRS, are all operating at less than 50% capacity, with the possibility of further furloughs.
It also means that about 1 million people are not getting paid, research isn't being done, drugs aren't being approved, the federal highway system isn't being maintained.
It's ugly and it's getting uglier. |
