Crashed rescue chopper airlifted out of Uttarakhand ravine after over two months
September 04, 2013
A Pawan Hans helicopter, which had crashed in Harsil while rescuing people during the Uttarakhand floods in June, was airlifted by the Indian Air Force today.
The crashed chopper was 'under-slung' and airlifted from Harsil to Dehradun via Dharasu by a Mi-17 V5 helicopter of the Indian Air Force.
On June 28, the Pawan Hans chopper had flown from Dharasu to Harsil to get back those stranded to safety to Dehradun. It was raining when the chopper approached the helipad; it ultimately landed on its tail, causing damage to its tail rotor.
No one was injured in the incident.
