Singapore Airlines has signed agreements with Airbus for purchase of a further 9 A380s with 6 more options and the lease of 19 A330 -300s.The agreement confirm the order announced by Singapore Airlines on july 21, 2006.Deliveries for the additional 9 A380s(following the 10 ordered in 2001),will commence in Jan 2010 and be completed in early 2011,said a release.
Guys,I read this article in todays The Hindu newspaper.With this confirmation from SQ to buy A380s,it takes the overall total of A380s order to 154,if I'am not wrong.This is after the FED EX's cancellation of this aircraft.It will be interesting to see from which airlines they are gonna lease A330-300s and for what routes they are gonna use this acft. Great to see A330-300s in SQ colours.

The overall A380 order is actually 162.I forgot about QF increasing its orderthis year.

You can add Thai Airways International also to the list.
All the A380 customers who made threatening noises of cancelling are now actually going to order more.
Airbus' recent demo tours around the world have really helped.

Exactly... all airlines made big noises threatened cancellations etc... at the most they will fine Airbus and as i said Airbus will take it in the form of spares, etc
A380 program although delayed is a good program, as KCM pointed out the A380 world tours made difference.
Also TG is planning to increase its A380 orders.

They are being leased from Airbus Asset Management----in other words from Airbus themselves.

So thats the compensation which SQ will get from airbus for the delay in A380?

dude are u drunk or wat?? I guess we were talking about A330-300 in SQ colours so i guess thats the compensation which SQ is getting for delayed arrival of A380
