GMG Airlines targets 100 weekly flights to India

Bangladesh's leading private carrier, GMG Airlines, is looking to increase its current number of flights and destinations into India. It currently operates daily flights to Kolkata and is set to start flying into Delhi thrice a week.

Under the recent review of bi-laterals by respective countries, the DGCA has now allowed Bangladesh's carriers daily frequencies to seven metros and unlimited flights to eighteen tourism destinations.

IMO Bangladesh govt should give unhindered access to this and other private airlines as its current flag carrier Biman is a disgrace. Infact they'd be better off without it.

Cheers

Wow - in that case they should definitely look at getting into tie-ups with intl carriers operating to points in India - to provide Bangladesh-India-RestOfWorld connectivity.

Luckily India does not require a transit visa for Bangladesh citizens - "Visa not required provided holding confirmed onward ticket for next destination on first available flight and not leaving the airport transit area". That being said, the airport transit areas are a huge mess!
